Why Everyone is a Social Media Expert
Social Media is about understanding people. Everyone needs social contact and a good laugh from time to time. We usually connect over a meal, a telephone call and in recent times, online.
People touch each other in different ways and we call that a connection. What amuses us or what drives us, often determines who we are friends with or with whom we hang out or what really speaks to us whether it is a brand, a friend or a song.
People keep talking about Social Media and how they don’t understand it. It has been in all our lives. The difference is that what we never thought about how our interactions with others is a form of Social Media. The words Social Media seems to scare everyone away from something as natural as breathing. Now we connect and have conversations online and give it a new name. that’s all. Is it really any different than sending a greeting card, having lunch or asking how someone is doing that day? Now we share photos, videos and opinions and anything we find awesome or note worthy. That makes you a Social Media expert since you have been using your social skills since birth. There definitely are magical ‘tricks of the trade’ when engaging in Social Media in business and sometimes that means you need extra help. It’s is easy for you to identify when you just don’t have enough time or need a bit of help on a commercial level. You are still an ‘expert’ in social communication because we all have families, friends and business contacts.
Like all media, Social Media has it’s own quirks, trick of the trade and detours along the way and this is why it can sometimes can be challenging.
The unquestioned art of breaking into the the social world. Social Media space is like organizing a cluttered closet . . . It feels so good to get it finished and it is hard to get yourself started and then you’re so happy you did it. Often small business just does not have the time to devote to this space so it can become effective for them. I am in the Social Media business and while I love this venue there is nothing like an old fashioned face to face or an invitation from a true friend who misses me and wants to get together. Got to go now! Logging on to Facebook, so I can invite my friend to lunch!
